Welcome to the Winchester Orchestra Website

The Winchester Orchestra is a fully professional orchestra in the region- serving Winchester, West Virginia and the entire Shenandoah Valley. The musicians from the WO are very much in demand and also perform with the National Symphony, Wolf Trap Opera, Maryland Symphony and Fairfax Symphony (to name a few).

In this, our second season, The WO brings to the Shenandoah Valley, Panhandle of West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania a wide variety of classical concerts, children's programs, education programs and community projects for every age and socio-economic level.  Enjoy WO's concerts while experiencing the beauty and history of the Shenandoah Valley. Featured this season - a Beethoven Festival and our first ever Family Event.  Just this past year the WO staff and musicians participated in the "Orchestras Feeding America Project" for the Winchester Community by securing food donations for the Blue Ridge Food Bank.  Our true sense of "community" will bring the unparalleled excellence of the Winchester Orchestra to you as we are "So Close You Can Hear It".

Why travel to D.C. or out of town when you can hear a professional orchestra right here, conveniently located in the heart of Winchester, VA?

Our Inaugural Season was a huge success! Last year's Inaugural Season is only the first step in an ongoing effort by the Winchester Orchestra to celebrate music as one of the most important arts, as well as a universal language of all civilizations. Our entire orchestra family is guided by the belief that community development is a comprehensive and diversified process.  With this in mind, our fully professional orchestra strives to continue to bring classical music, at its highest levels, to form a major pillar in the ongoing development of our region.

We look forward to presenting truly memorable concerts for 2009/2010 including: An Arts and Wine Festival Concert; A Beethoven Festival; and expanded children's concerts/programs.

We can't do it without you! Our goal is to raise $300,000 to continue to bring quality, professional, exciting and diversified programming to our region.

Help our local economy-Give to the WO!

Fact: Any time money changes hands there is a measurable economic impact. Social service organizations, libraries, and all entities that spend money have an economic impact. What makes the economic impact of arts and culture organizations unique is that, unlike most other industries, they induce large amounts of related spending by their audiences. For example, when patrons attend a performing arts event, they may purchase dinner at a restaurant, eat dessert after the show, and return home and pay the baby-sitter.  All of these expenditures have a positive and measurable impact on the economy.
